Kids Hope USA Announces Leadership Transition

After nearly seven years of dedicated leadership, Dr. Karen Pearson will be stepping down from her role as president of Kids Hope USA, a national mentoring organization. The Board of Directors is delighted to appoint Kara Nguyen as Kids Hope USA’s new president and CEO, effective February 16, 2026.  

Karen has provided steady and forward-looking leadership for the healthy and thriving organization. Her commitment to mentoring has helped Kids Hope USA expand in new ways and foster a deep and lasting impact in communities through one-on-one mentoring relationships.  

“Karen’s talents proved invaluable. Kids Hope USA has truly been blessed by Karen’s leadership over the past seven years, and we wish her the best in her future endeavors.” Nancy DeWitt, Board Chair of Kids Hope USA, said. 

Building on this strong foundation, the Board of Directors is pleased to appoint Kara Nguyen as the organization’s new President and CEO of Kids Hope USA. Kara has served as a key leader at Kids Hope USA and faithful mentor for 8 years. Her appointment ensures continuity and strong alignment with the organization’s mission.  

“I am honored to have been chosen for this role as president and CEO of such a trusted, dynamic, and faithful ministry,” Kara said. “It has been a gift to serve our mission for almost eight years, and I am thrilled to lead us forward with enduring faithfulness, impact, and legacy.”    

Kara’s visionary leadership alongside the team at Kids Hope USA will lead this national ministry into an exciting new chapter of excellence and service. 

About Kara  

Kara Nguyen is a West Michigan native who has served in the non-profit sector for 13 years.  She received her B.A. in Community Leadership from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI, and will complete her M.A. in Philanthropic Studies from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University in 2026. Her non-profit background includes fundraising, program expansion, and leadership; she has actively served as a Kids Hope USA mentor since 2018 and is passionate about inviting and inspiring others to give of their time, talent, and treasure.
