My mentee…

In our email last weekend, we asked mentors to finish the statement, “My mentee…” and in essence brag about something wonderful that their mentee has accomplished or does. We have had a great response so far and hope to continue receiving posts to our Facebook Wall and tweets on Twitter with #proudmentor and #kidshopeusa. Here are the ones we have received so far:

“My mentee is learning to shake hands. We have turned it into a contest…the first one to remember to shake hands on greeting and leaving wins a point. Because my mentee is quite competitive, he likes this game and is learning the respect of shaking hands too!”

“My mentee is a wonderful 5 year old who loves learning about everything!”

“My mentee writes books I want to read and inspires me with her optimism every week.”

“My mentee is a very creative artist! I love watching her work with all sorts of media! Our art times are our best times! Her confidence shines through when she is creating in ways I never otherwise see. Joy!”

“My mentee has been with me now for 3 years and now I get a big (hug) every week.”

“My mentee has the biggest smile almost every time I come to get him before mentoring!”

“My mentee has so much to tell me every week even though she just learned to speak English during this school year.”

If you would like to share how awesome your mentee is, go to our Facebook Page and post your version of “My mentee…” or post it on your Twitter account and add #proudmentor and #kidshopeusa. Hope to see many more posts and thanks for all those who have shared about their wonderful mentees!
