WORD PLAY

Start this activity by listing 10-20 short words, such as “house”, “chair”, “shape”, etc..
Next, let your child choose one word and write in on a piece of paper or white board. Then, see if you can take away or change one letter and make a new word. Some examples…
HOUSE- can become MOUSE or HOSE
TASK- can become MASK or ASK
For older students, see how many new words you can make from the original word.
If you do not have access to white board, remember that a simple Cool Whip container lid will work well with dry erase markers. This will make it more fun for your student!
