Chan shares this week that when a Christian allows stress or worry to interfere in their worship of God, they are basically saying that their problems are more important than God. He then goes on to profile lukewarm Christians using scripture as his measuring device to determine if someone is a lukewarm Christian. Take the following test to determine where you may be falling on the Christian intensity scale
1. Attend church regularly.
2. Give to church regularly.
3. Do you chose what is popular over what is right?
4. Do you want to be saved only from the penalty of sin?
5. Are You moved by stories of those committed to ministry but fail to act yourself?
6. Do you rarely share your faith?
7. Do you compare your morality by comparing yourself to secular persons?
8. Is Jesus only a part of your life?
9. Do you love God with all your heart?
10. Do you love yourself more than others?
11. Do you set limits on how much time, talent and treasure you will expend for the kingdom?
12. Is life on earth more important than eternity?
13. Do you dislike the idea of giving up luxuries?
14. Do you work at not feeling guilty?
15. Do you avoid living by faith?
16. Has your Christian journey followed a very similar path to all those you grew up with?
17. Do you engage in some of the world’s vices but at a lesser level than non-believers?
Depending on how many of these questions you answered in the affirmative, you may be a lukewarm Christian by the Bible and the apostle John’s definition. I found the questions personally helpful in gauging my own faith journey and intend to remind myself of these from time to time as a personal check.
