KIDS HOPE USA student, Josie doesn’t have a mother figure in her life, so during the week before Mother’s Day, Josie gave her mentor a picture she’d drawn of the two of them together. After giving her mentor, Miss Erin the picture, Josie gave Miss Erin a hug and said, “I don’t celebrate Mother’s Day, but I do celebrate Miss Erin Day!”

Sadly, my mentee will not be attending our Kids Hope suppported school this year. My student did not have his mother at home with him. He missed her so much. We did dedicate his “All About Me” journal to his mom. There were heartwarming pictures he drew. One was a hot air balloon where the two of us would be drifting away on an adventure. This special moment was what mentoring is all about, and I pray that he sees his mom again (and me!).
I am sorry he had to leave, Marilyn. It is so hard to say goodbye, but know that your time together made a difference! Thank you for mentoring your child and God bless you!
