First Letter Scavenger Hunt

Enjoy a nice walk outside or around the school and learn your letters at the same time! Take a paper plate, write the letters around the edge, cut some tabs, and you are all set for the learning and fun to begin. As you walk with your child, look for things that start with each letter of the alphabet. As you find something, turn that tab down.

Here’s a suggestion…start your hunt by turning down the first letter of your name and your child’s name just to remind them that you KNOW THEIR NAME! Show them that you BELIEVE IN THEM by adding a positive characteristic that you have noticed about them as you say their name. You may also want to turn the “F” tab down and say you found a FRIEND as you point to your child! If you don’t finish turning down all of the letters druing your visit, put the plate back in your child and finish it at your next visit. This will remind your child that you plan to be FAITHFUL and come back next week!
