“After a year of being together, one of our mentors had to say goodbye to her little boy as he was moving to a different school. Knowing he would miss our KIDS HOPE USA Christmas party, the mentor brought in the gift that all of the students would be receiving- a KIDS HOPE knit hat and special mittens made for him by women from our church. They fit him perfectly and he wore them while they read books, counted Oreo cookies and wrote on white boards. The first thing that he wrote on each white board was “I love you” to his mentor. She responded by writing “I love you too”. Their final session together ended with a big hug and the mentor left knowing that her efforts, energy and time mattered. So did the prayers offered by her prayer partner.”
