Now that the summer is upon us, Chris & I thought it would be good to use the time for spiritual renewal. The radical book Crazy Love by Francis Chan seemed like a good place to start. Hopefully some have read it already and this will allow for some sharing. I will try to draw out his key themes. A good place to begin is with his purpose for writing this book. It’s for those who want more of Jesus. Chan points out that God’s “art” points to His glory and requires us to praise Him. Just watched an episode of Planet Earth and the extreme diversity of the the earth amazed those who filmed the series and only reinforces the belief that this could only happen through divine intelligence. Chan ends chapter one by saying, “We must stand in awed silence before a mighty God, whose tremendous worth becomes even more apparent as we see our own puny selves in comparison.”
This is a great starting point but next week Chan begins to ask the tough questions about our willingness to submit to and follow this magnificent God.
